MAXINE BRISTOW

Biography - Maxine Bristow

Maxine Bristow was born in Bolton, Lancashire. She studied at Manchester Metropolitan University - BA [Hons] Fashion and Textiles [Embroidery] 1981-84, MA Textiles [1984-85]. She is currently Reader in Fine Art and MA Programme Leader within the Department of Fine Art at the University of Chester where the teaching of textiles within a fine art context, has over the years, developed as a particular feature of the curriculum. She has held external examining positions at a number of institutions including Goldsmith’s College, Winchester School of Art, University of Hertfordshire and the University of Huddersfield and has contributed to various Crafts Council initiatives such as the Photostore selection panel and Next Move Scheme. She has exhibited widely at national and international level, has work in a number of national collections, and in 2002 was selected for Jerwood Applied Arts [Textiles] Prize.
