Research Interests - Elisa Oliver
My research interests address the contemporary cultural re-engagement in Britain with the 1970s, this centres in particular around a preoccupation with the teenage moment of that period in the work of British artists from the 1990s. In this context I have been looking at the work of Susan Philipz, Paul Rooney, George Shaw and David Rayson, dialogue between the still and the moving image, the construction of memory through aural and television culture, and the impact of Thatcherism on an erosion of adulthood.
I also have a strong interest in the performative and experiential in contemporary practice, and through a parallel career as a curator the effect of this on the reception and interpretation of cultural artefacts.
