Research Interests - Allan Owens
My main interest currently is in the use of pre-text performance based projects as a form of praxis. Pre-texts are drama fretworks that allow for the enactive exploration of identified issues, concepts or subjects. I welcome opportunities to collaborate with colleagues from different disciplines in the arts and across a wide range of professional boundaries (Funded by a National Teaching Fellow Project 2003-2008).
Areas of research supervision expertise and potential doctoral proposals include:
Drama Education.
Process Drama.
Applied Drama.
Enactive Learning.
Drama in Intercultural contexts.
I have a specific interest in:
The use of drama to create learning contexts and generate critical thinking across a wide range of settings, in Education, Business, Health, Justice, Heritage and Community. For example current interests include; Artistic enquiry in Business/Management Education, Drama in schools, colleges including prisons; The use of drama to create learning contexts in higher education and professional contexts; The use of drama in the teaching of Modern Foreign Languages; The use of Reflective Sketchbooks across a wide range of disciplinary boundaries to develop critical thinking skills.
