REPEAT REPEAT CONFERENCE 2007

Repeat Repeat Conference 19th - 20th April 07

Repeat Repeat was the second conference organised by the Centre for Practice as Research in the Arts (CPaRA) and was a two -day international conference. The subject developed out of interests and expertise across the departments of Visual and Performing Arts and sought to delineate and consolidate research in relation to this subject area. A general call for papers was issued to include performative and more traditional academic papers. Three keynote speakers were invited as leading practitioners and theorists in the area: Adrian Heathfield, Katy Deepwell, Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard. The result was a rich mixture of academic papers, performance lectures and performances, accompanied by an exhibition of staff work. A catalogue, ‘Negotiated Positions’, was published by CPaRA to accompany the exhibition.

What follows is a record of the proceedings of the conference. Where an abstract only appears the speaker has decided not to submit their full paper. The conference will be developed into a more focussed book publication that will reflect on the outcomes of the conference and its contribution to research in the field.
